Greetings from New Council Commissioner Andy Romagnuolo

Daniel Boone Council,

My name is Andy Romagnuolo (pronounced Roman-yo-low).  It is my great honor to be your new Council Commissioner.  The Council Commissioner position is the liaison between the uniformed volunteers and the professional staff with the duty of Unit Service.  That means I am here for you and to provide Servant Leadership to build a stronger Council by providing a group of leaders called Commissioners.

My vision for the Commissioner Program is to develop a corps of outstanding Scouting leaders to share their experiences and expertise with our unit leaders. Program success comes from the time and attention of our direct contact leaders working with our youth.  The Commissioners are a leadership support system for those direct contact leaders.

I want you to find and use our Commissioners as a resource to help improve your programs and your units.  To make them more identifiable, we are developing a Council Strip for trained Commissioners to wear.  If they are trained in their Commissioner position they will be authorized to wear the strip.  I will also be encouraging the use of the Commissioner's maroon neckerchief and a gold colored woggle to further identify these experienced leaders.  Seek them out, welcome them to your meetings and use them as mentors to continually improve our ability to provide an outstanding Scouting program for our youth.  Let us always work together to deliver that promise.

Strong units build a strong Council.  We assess those strengths through Journey to Excellence (JTE).  We are currently at the point of Unit Recharter and submission of your JTE results for the year.  I am excited to see all of your achievements from this past year and the renewal of your units for an exceptional year of Scouting in 2017.  Make sure that you have your place in the Council secure by timely submission of your recharter paperwork.

A special thanks to Tom Kuster, our outgoing Council Commissioner.  His leadership has strengthened the Daniel Boone Council and he will be missed as he moves on to a new career opportunity and a new adventure in his life.  His contributions to Scouting in Western North Carolina cannot be measured.  Thank you and good luck with your future endeavors Tom!

Finally, thanks to you, the volunteer leader.  The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is delivered to our youth through your devotion to our Scouting program. Thank you for your time and your dedication to the youth of Daniel Boone Council.
